Minutes of Special Meeting

October 18, 2016 - 6:30 PM - Special Meeting

Present: Mayor Jordan Sullivan, Recorder-Treasurer Diane Bowen

Kathy Hansen, Nanette Barnes, Dennis Pinkley, Jay King, Darlene Gregory

Mayor Sullivan declared a quorum was present and called the meeting to order at 6:30 pm.

Special meeting’s agenda consists of potential hiring of Office Administrator and pay.

Mayor Sullivan stated he called the special meeting to discuss the hiring of Nanette Barnes for office administrator, so that training can start as soon as possible. Resume and application was reviewed.

Discussion and questions followed concerning schooling, training, experience, hours, benefits, starting pay, etc.

When asked, Bowen confirmed she would be available to help in a consulting or book keeping capacity, after the first of the year.

Questions asked were ‘do we need to post/publish’ the job opening and can she do the office job and serve as alderman or recorder-treasurer? Mayor Sullivan said he would get legal advice the next day.

Ald. King moved that after Mayor Sullivan speaks to attorney, and if it is legal for the Town to hire Nanette Barnes as office administrator and she accepts the offer as level 3, 5.5 years’ experience, she be hired. Ald. Pinkley seconded the motion. All approved. Motion carried.

Pay would start at $18.00 per hour and increase

Nanette Barnes to let Mayor Sullivan know her decision October 19.

Bowen was asked to not resign her recorder-treasurer position until January 2017.

Training to begin as soon as possible.

Meeting adjourned at 7:10 PM.
